My Little Girl

She seems so big to me now. I can't believe how fast she's growing up. We have had so much joy added to our lives since she has arrived. I really love how cuddly and lovie she is. Sydney is 14 months now and I can really see the wheels turning in her head. Everyday, I know her brain is absorbing more and more. She comprehends so much and is a good listener...better than Blake ever was, and is a good little helper. Loves to pick up, and I'm not gonna say there is anything wrong with that. We love her so much, and not just because she cleans.

Showing Our Support

Last Saturday we had the opportunity to show our love for a dear friend. She has been diagnosed with MS. We jumped all over the chance to sponsor her as well as walk with her, and others who love and support her. It was an amazing day and the scenery was beautiful. We walked along the Provo river and the sound of the water flow was perfect for the stroll we took. It was a great experience for me and very touching as well. We take our lives and our health for granted. I love the way I feel after knowing that I may have lifted someones spirits for the day. We love you Kim, and thank you for this wonderful memory and incredible experience.

We have been going through classic car show withdrawls since being in Utah. Almost every Friday night, on Garden Grove Main Street, we were cruising around checking out all the cool cars. Blake always had a new Hot Wheels in hand, we had full Del Taco bellies, but we always had room for some fresh kettle corn popcorn. Did I mention it was ALWAYS free? Saturday afternoon we headed to the South Town Expo Center for AUTORAMA, a traveling car show. Once we heard it advertised...we knew that's where we were going to be that day. Although NOT free, we still had some popcorn and Blake had his new Hot Wheels in hand. It was fun and it felt good to be around the oldies but goodies again. Thanks Minna for tagging along with us! Hope both of our dreams come true and then we can be traveling around the country showing our cars/babies to everyone else. Let's hear it for the grease monkeys!

New Beginnings

Since we moved back we have been busy trying to make the house fee like ours again. Thanks to Kyle (my cousin) our wall is a little smoother now. Our renters mounted a tv on our livingroom wall, leaving it all patched up...terribly might I add, and even with holes still in it. Our tv was always upstairs, but after this and realizing that I needed to keep an eye on the kids while working, we also mounted our tv on the wall. With a little paint, pictures and a tedious art project...I think we're back in business. We are really happy with how things turned out. Although, you're your own worst critic and I'll always find something to complain about or try to improve. Ah, homeownership and the never ending list of projects that go with it!

Shane and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary. Things have been so busy that we took it pretty easy. First the move, the birthday, President's Day, Valentine's Day, and then OUR day. No cards, no gifts, just a sitter and dinner. We decided on sushi, man I miss Mahe in Seal Beach. There's just something about eating sushi in a place that's not close to the ocean, it was still good anyway. We look old and terrible...at least I do, but we still love each other anyway.

Sydney had her 1st Birthday, celebrated with a cinamon roll (poor kid), and a new kitchen to play with. Took a day trip to Idaho and celebrated with the Carey family.

Welcome Back

So, it has been exactly 6 months to the day since I have updated this blog of ours. Where did the time go? Oh, I remember...I got introduced to this thing called 'facebook' and well...I sort of became addicted. Please forgive me, but I also realized that I'm not alone. I know plenty of people that have done the same. I have a hard time as it is trying to multi-task with my daily duties, let alone try to juggle a blog and keep up with everyone telling you when they had a runny nose and what their bowel movements looked like. Sorry for the visual, but that's how it really feels sometimes.

I had something happen to me recently that made me realize how important family really is and I want to share that with everyone. I will try and be a little more regular...in blogging that is (get your mind out of the gutter). the last 6 months have been very eventful for us. I'd like to add a few pictures to give you an overview of what has happened.

She is almost 7 months now. I can't believe it. Here is a glimpse at how happy she can be. Even after waiting WAY past our appointment time. She surprised me. This is our little (not really so little, she's huge) Sydney at 6 months. By the way, nice crack.

We Will Play While Daddy's Away

The last few weeks have been crazy. Shane has been studying for his life license and DID pass the exam. He's official now and we are so proud of him. Our renters moved out at the end of August and he flew up to take care of some things. We were really unhappy with the condition of the house when the family left.

This was our first house, we picked out everything that we wanted and made it our own. Then reality sinks in, people will most likely not take care of it the way we would. For instance, the toilet in Blake's bathroom had been turned off because it wasn't working properly. A visit from the plumber, and WALA! There is a toy stuck in it. Nice. I'm feeling a little less bitter every minute thanks to AMAZING friends and neighbors who have been so willing to help us out with our mess of a house.

The blessing. After posting it for rent online, it rented in less than 48 hours. What a relief. Anywho, while Daddy was away working hard, we had some fun doing things we like best. Like laughing, car shows, and most importantly (this time of season) watching the football. Go Trojans!

In June we took a trip to Idaho for the Hendricks family reunion, also grandma and grandpa's 65th wedding anniversary. Other than the crummy rainy weather, we enjoyed ourselves and Blake had tons of fun with his cousins.

Shane had a birthday on May 18th and Blake had one on May 19th. We celebrated with a trip to Disneyland. Blake always has a good time when he's with his daddy, even if it's on the Tea Cups.

I have been battling kidney stones...again. I have had them for a couple of months and finally decided I've had enough. There were two stones in my left kidney. One was 5mm and the other one was 9mm. Too big to pass on my own. I had lithotripsy (shock waves to break them up)done on Thursday, May 21st. Now, if I could just get rid of all of the fragments. For the record, twice is enough and I hope I never have to go through this again. I'm so over drinking tons of water right now!

I know everyone says this, but I'm new at this whole bloggin' thing and giving it a shot. Here is what happened in the last 2 1/2 months. For starters, we had our second child. Kind of a big one (change that is). Her name is Sydney Jean and we absolutely adore her...now. She weighed 7lbs. 2oz. and was 21 in. long. Couldn't believe it but she came out with tons of dark hair. Blake only had some peach fuzz and it was strawberry blonde.

Sydney had a rough first month. Let me rephrase that, mommy had a rough first month. She was hardly ever happy and would just scream. Now, she loves to coo and smile. She is much more pleasant now. Not to mention, I think the whole family adjusted to the idea of having a new baby around.
